Rolls-Royce Cullinan is an all-wheel drive luxury SUV of the full-size category and, concurrently, the first "car of this format" in the history of the British automaker, named after the largest rough diamond in the world (aka "Star of Africa") ...

The five-door, combining the luxury of a Rolls-Royce passenger car and the ability to move on rough terrain, is addressed to middle-aged and older men with a “high financial and social status” for whom “there are no boundaries” ...

The world premiere of the crossover took place on May 10, 2018 as part of a special event in London, but the British started developing it back in 2015 - supposedly, the brand's customers asked the machine builder to release an all-terrain vehicle that would combine all the traditional features of Rolls-Royce cars. The all-terrain vehicle, which has become one of the largest representatives of its class (of course, we are talking about serial models), has received an impressive design, progressive technology and the highest level of equipment.

Externally, Rolls-Royce Cullinan can hardly be called handsome, but it impresses at first sight - the car looks majestic, elegant and brutal.

At the front, the SUV inspires awe and respect thanks to its vertically-monumental contours with small rectangular headlights, a massive chrome grille shield with vertical louvres and a faceted bumper.

In profile, the SUV attracts attention with a noble and balanced silhouette with a long and almost horizontal hood, a high roofline, a powerful shoulder area, huge cutouts in the wheel arches and a barely visible "scion" at the stern (making it the "first three-volume in the segment").

From the rear, the five-door has a strong, but restrained-solid "physique" - graceful (vertically oriented) lanterns, an expressive trunk lid and a raised bumper with two "curly" exhaust pipes.

The Cullinan is one of the largest serial crossovers in the world: its length is 5341 mm, the width is 2164 mm, and the height reaches 1835 mm. The center distance of the car extends to 3295 mm, and its clearance in a normal state is 250 mm (but this figure can vary due to the air suspension).

When loaded, the British "giant" weighs 2660 kg.

Inside, Rolls-Royce Cullinan meets high-ranking officials with an atmosphere of luxury and comfort - the interior of the crossover looks presentable and modern, but at the same time very restrained (without any design tweaks).

Directly in front of the driver are a weighty three-spoke multi-steering wheel with an elegant hub and a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch screen, and to the right of it is a noble center console topped with a color multimedia display and a laconic air conditioning unit.

As befits a car of this status, its decoration "flaunts" impeccable ergonomics and an uncompromising level of finishing materials (expensive wood species, genuine leather, aluminum and much more).

By default, the Cullinan's interior is five-seater: the front passengers are located in comfortable seats with a well-defined side profile, many electric adjustments, heating, ventilation and other goodies, while the rear passengers are provided with a hospitably molded three-seater sofa with an optimal stiffness filling.

For a surcharge, the second row can be equipped with two separate seats with electric settings (and other "blessings of civilization) and a massive console in the middle (it contains a refrigerator and a cabinet for drinks with branded glasses of the brand).

With a five-seat configuration, the trunk of the crossover is able to accommodate 600 liters of luggage in normal condition. In this design, the rear sofa is folded in three parts (but does not form a perfect even "rookery"), increasing the capacity of the "hold" to 1930 liters. In the four-seater version, a 526-liter cargo compartment remains behind the "manned cabin", separated from the passenger compartment by a blank partition.

Under the hood of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a 12-cylinder petrol unit with a working volume of 6.75 liters with a V-shaped structure, two turbochargers, direct fuel injection, 48-valve timing and phase shifters on the intake and exhaust, generating 571 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 850 Nm of torque at 1600 rpm.

By default, it mates with an 8-band "automatic" ZF and an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch that connects the wheels of the front axle.

From a standstill to 100 km / h, a full-size SUV “shoots out” in less than 6 seconds (although the British do not disclose the exact numbers), and it accelerates to 250 km / h (the speed is limited by an electronic “collar”).

In the combined conditions of movement, the five-door "destroys" about 15 liters of fuel for every "hundred" of the run.

It is also worth noting that the car has good off-road potential: for example, it is able to overcome fords up to 540 mm deep.

At the heart of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the modular Architecture of Luxury - it is a spatial frame made of aluminum, on which body panels are hung all of the same “winged metal”.

On both axles of the crossover, independent suspensions with pneumatic cylinders, adaptive shock absorbers and active anti-roll bars are installed: in the front there is a double-wishbone arrangement, in the back there is a multi-link arrangement.

As standard, the car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering complex with a power steering and a variable gear ratio, as well as a fully controlled chassis with a steering gear of the rear wheels. "In a circle" the five-door boasts powerful ventilated discs (made of cast iron) of the brake system, complemented by the darkness of modern electronic assistants.

In the Russian market, Rolls-Royce Cullinan in 2018 is offered at a price of 25 million rubles (but the upper "bar" in this case does not exist - a wide range of options and a large number of individualization options are provided for the crossover).

The basic SUV package includes: a scattering of airbags, four-zone climate control, 22-inch alloy wheels, a high-end audio system with sixteen columns, a virtual instrument cluster, full LED optics, a media center with a touch screen, electric drive and heated front seats, ABS, ESP, adaptive cruise control, all-round cameras, automatic braking system, blind spot monitoring, head-up display and a huge number of other modern "gadgets".
