After the "autumn premiere of 2013" of the second generation of the hatchback, the release of the station wagon was only a matter of time ... Some were waiting for the novelty back in Detroit, but the French decided to save the "308 SW" of the 2nd generation until a more significant event - the Geneva Motor Show (which took place in March 2014).

At the beginning of the summer of 2017, a restyled car made its debut, which was "tweaked" the exterior, finalized and expanded the list of available electronic systems and modernized power units.

The second generation of the Peugeot 308 SW station wagon was created, of course, on the basis of a hatchback, which is clearly visible in the appearance of the novelty. In fact, French engineers and designers did not come up with anything, but simply increased the dimensions of the hatchback and added the "SW suffix" to the model name.

The length of the body of the "cargo-passenger 308th" is 4585 mm, the length of the wheelbase has grown to 2730 mm, the width is limited to 1804 mm, and the wagon rails rests against the 1471 mm bar. A 2730 mm base fits between the wheelsets of the five-door.

The layout and design of the cabin are also "lapped" from the hatchback. But at the same time, there are still some differences.

  • Firstly, by increasing the wheelbase, the developers managed to move the rear row of seats - which made it possible to carve out a few extra centimeters of free space in the knee area.
  • Secondly, the rear doors of the station wagon open a little wider - which makes it easier for passengers to board.
  • And, thirdly, this body version, of course, has a much more spacious trunk with convenient options for quick transformation due to the "Magic Flat" system (allowing the rear row of seats to be folded with one movement of the hand using special levers installed in the trunk) ...

In its standard state, the luggage compartment of the Peugeot 308 SW is able to accommodate 590 liters of cargo or 660 liters if you unload the spare wheel stored in a special compartment under the raised floor. Well, with the rear row of seats assembled, the useful volume will grow to an impressive 1660 liters.

In the countries of the Old World, the "308th" in the "cargo-passenger body" is offered with a wide selection of power units:

  • The gasoline part includes three- and four-cylinder engines with a volume of 1.2-1.6 liters with turbocharging, a direct injection system and adjustable valve timing, which develop 110-155 horsepower and 205-240 Nm of torque.
  • The diesel palette includes turbocharged "fours" for 1.6-2.0 liters in-line configuration, battery "power" Common Rail and 16-valve timing, producing 99-150 hp. and 284-370 Nm of available potential.

In conjunction with the engines, 5- or 6-speed manual or 6-band automatic transmissions work, through which the entire power reserve is supplied to the wheels of the front axle.

Like the hatchback, the second generation 308 SW station wagon is built on the modular EMP2 platform, in which the developers slightly increased the wheelbase and revised the suspension settings, similar to the hatchback. In general, in constructive terms, the cargo-passenger model completely repeats its five-door "brother".

In the Russian market, the Peugeot 308 SW is not officially sold, but in Europe (to be more precise, in Germany) the 2017 model is offered at a price of 20,900 euros (~ 1.43 million rubles).
In terms of standard and additional equipment, the car does not have any differences from the hatchback.
