Hyundai Grandeur is a front-wheel drive sedan "business class" (aka "E-segment" by European standards), "flaunting" exquisite design, rich equipment, efficient technology and good "driving" potential ... Its main target audience is people with a high level annual income who want to get a "big, comfortable and safe car", but at the same time cannot yet afford similar models of the "big German three" ...

The presentation of the full-size three-volume of the sixth generation was held by the South Korean mechanical engineer at the end of October 2016 in Seoul as part of a private event, and its full-scale premiere took place in November of the same year at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The four-door, "leading" the model line of the brand (the flagship role went to her after the appearance of a separate luxury brand Genesis), has improved in all directions, from appearance to technology, and added to the premium.

The "sixth" Hyundai Grandeur retained the proportions of the previous model, but got a more aggressive, aristocratic and sophisticated look.

The design of the front end with a cold-blooded look of lighting technology and a trapezoidal radiator grill reminds the four-door of the Genesis G90, which adds solidity to it, and from the stern it demonstrates solid outlines with a branded "bridge" between the lanterns and curly exhaust pipes in the bumper.

The solid silhouette of the car also evokes positive emotions, and the long bonnet, sloping roof contours and expressive "waves" on the sidewalls exalt its dynamism.

In terms of dimensions, "Grander" is a typical "player" of the E-class: it is 4930 mm long, of which the wheelbase "extends" by 2845 mm, fits into 1865 mm in width, and reaches 1470 mm in height.

The curb weight of the four-door varies from 1550 to 1705 kg (depending on the version).

The interior of the 2017 Hyundai Grandeur impresses with its exquisite design and abundant leather. The main attention inside the three-volume is drawn by the "tablet" of the multimedia system installed in the latest fashion with a dashing bend of the frame, which is adjacent to a stylish analog clock. In the lower part of the center console, the reference blocks of the radio and microclimate settled down, and behind the multifunctional four-spoke steering wheel, a classic instrument cluster with dial gauges and an on-board computer display between them "registered".

Salon "Grandera" provides riders with perfectly profiled seats and a sufficient supply of free space both in front and behind. In the reach of the rear passenger there are buttons for folding the right front seat, so that the car can be used as a low-level executive sedan.

The luggage compartment of the four-door cannot be called impressive - its volume in the standard state is 446 liters (according to the VDA method). The "hold" itself has a comfortable shape and high-quality finish, and in the underground niche it contains a spare wheel and a set of tools.

Specifications. A wide range of power units is offered for the sixth generation Hyundai Grandeur:

  • The basic version is a 2.4-liter gasoline "aspirated" GDI with distributed injection, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable valve timing, generating 190 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 241 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.
  • It is followed by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder e-VGT turbo diesel with battery power and 16 valves, which produces 202 hp. at 3800 rpm and 441 Nm of peak thrust at 1750-2750 rpm.
  • Next in the hierarchy is a 3.0-liter V6 GDI naturally aspirated gasoline engine with direct fuel supply, a 24-valve timing structure and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet, producing 266 hp. at 6400 rpm and 308 Nm of torque at 5300 rpm.
  • Under the hood of the "top" versions there is a 3.3-liter V-six of the Lambda II family with direct petrol injection, 24 valves and variable valve timing technology, which develops 290 hp. at 6400 rpm and 344 Nm of available recoil at 5200 rpm.
  • The hybrid modification of the Hybrid closes the motor range - it is equipped with a 2.4-liter gasoline "four" producing 159 horsepower and 206 Nm of torque, a 52-horsepower electric motor, which has 205 Nm in its arsenal, and a lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of 1.76 kW * h.

The initial gasoline unit and gasoline-electric unit are combined with a 6-band "automatic" and front-wheel drive transmission, while the rest of the engines are combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The first "hundred" obeys the full-size three-volume after 7.4-9.7 seconds, and its "maximum speed" varies from 213 to 230 km / h (it all depends on the version).

Gasoline modifications of the car consume 8.3-10.7 liters of fuel for each "hundred" in the combined mode, the diesel version consumes no more than 6.5 liters, and the hybrid "digests" about 6.2 liters.

The sixth "release" Hyundai Grandeur shares the "cart" with the Kia Cadenza / K7 and boasts a longitudinally based power plant and abundant use of high-strength steel grades in the "skeleton" of the body.

The wheels of both axles are suspended by means of independent suspensions of a spring-lever structure with transverse stabilizers: a double-lever is mounted in front, and a multi-link at the rear.

The steering system of the "Korean" is a rack and pinion type with electric power steering and progressive characteristics. On each of the four-door wheels there are disc brakes (supplemented by ventilation in the front) with a whole range of auxiliary electronics (ABS, Brake Assist, EBD, etc.).
