At the international exhibition of the automotive industry in Beijing in April 2008, Audi held a world presentation of a compact SUV of the premium class called "Q5", and in July it started its serial production at three production sites at once - in Ingolstadt, Changchun and Aurangabad.

In 2012, the Germans carried out a modernization of the car, presenting the result of their work in October 2012 at the Paris Auto Show. In short, outwardly, the "fifth-fifth" has changed "purely cosmetically", having received redrawn optics and an improved radiator grille, and even less in the cabin - a different steering wheel and new trim options. Technically, the metamorphoses turned out to be more significant - the engines were "revised", and the gasoline versions were separated from the "automatic" instead of the "robot".

The appearance of the Audi Q5 is tailored in the traditional for the brand, restrained-aggressive and "thoroughbred" style, which is not devoid of a bit of sportiness. At the front, the athletic body of the car is crowned with wedge-shaped headlight units with LED running light strips, and on the stern side - wide LED lights with beautiful graphics. The "muscular" wheel arches, the sloping roof contours and the expressive diffuser in the rear bumper, into which two "trunks" of the exhaust system are integrated, add dynamism and power to it.

In length, the Audi Q5 is stretched by 4629 mm, and the distance between the wheelsets fits into 2807 mm. The premium crossover has a width of 1,898 mm and a height of 1,655 mm. The ground clearance of the "German" in running order is 200 mm.

Nice, high quality, functional - these are the words that can characterize the interior of the SUV. The driver is directly responsible for a simple and extremely informative instrument cluster with several large dials and an on-board computer screen between them, as well as a stylish multifunctional steering wheel with a raised rim.

The center console, slightly turned towards the "pilot", encloses a 7-inch screen of the multimedia complex and numerous switches: the top controls are grouped "climate", and the gear selector is surrounded by buttons for controlling multimedia functions.

Inside the Audi Q5, a truly premium atmosphere reigns - the interior is finished with high-quality materials. Depending on the configuration, you can find tactilely pleasant fabric, expensive leather, natural wood or aluminum in the car.

Front seats "ku-fifth" have a comfortable profile with a fairly developed support on the sides and a large range of settings in different directions. The back sofa with dense filling and adjustable backrest is set at the optimal height, which makes it comfortable for two adult riders. There is plenty of space on all fronts, but the wide transmission tunnel hints - the third will be superfluous.

With five passengers on board, the trunk of the Audi Q5 can hold up to 540 liters of luggage. The back of the "gallery", cut into two parts in a ratio of 60:40, fits into a flat area, which increases the usable volume to 1560 liters. The compartment has a convenient shape and various additional equipment - movable clamps, protective barriers and nets. In the "cellar" under the raised floor there is a deflated compact "spare wheel" in which a subwoofer is installed, and a set of tools.

Specifications. For the Russian market, the premium crossover is offered with three TFSI petrol engines, two gearboxes and an uncontested all-wheel drive.

  • Under the hood of the basic versions of the Audi Q5 is a 2.0-liter "four" with combined fuel injection, turbocharging and a two-stage valve lift adjustment system at the intake, developing 180 "horses" at 4000-6000 rpm and 320 Nm of peak thrust at 1500-3800 rpm / minute.
In combination with a 6-speed "mechanics", it provides the all-wheel drive SUV with acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h after 8.5 seconds and maximum capabilities at 210 km / h.
Gasoline consumption does not exceed 7.5 liters for each "hundred" in combined conditions.
  • Intermediate versions are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit with a combined power supply system, phase shifters at the inlet and outlet and an exhaust manifold mounted in a block, the output of which is 230 horsepower at 4700-6200 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1500-4600 rpm minute.
The engine is combined with a "mechanics" for six gears, or an 8-band "automatic" Tiptronic. It takes 6.9-7.2 seconds to conquer the first "hundred" of such a premium crossover, and its top speed does not exceed 228 km / h.
Fuel "appetite" varies from 7.3 to 7.6 liters on the combined cycle.
  • "Older" versions of the Audi Q5 "flaunt" a 3.0-liter V-shaped "six" with a supercharged drive, direct fuel supply, variable valve timing at the inlet and adjustable flaps on the intake ports. The peak aluminum "six" generates 272 "mares" at 4780-6500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque, realized in the range from 2150 to 4780 rpm.
Only automatic transmission mates with it, so that the car accelerates to 234 km / h, exchanging the first 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds.
The passport consumption of gasoline is 8.5 liters for every 100 km in the combined mode.

By default, the "fifth" is equipped with quattro all-wheel drive technology with a Torsen limited-slip center differential, which in normal driving conditions directs 40% of the moment to the front wheels and 60% to the rear wheels. When the situation changes, up to 65% of the potential can be thrown forward, and up to 85% backward.

At the heart of the Audi Q5 is a modular MLP platform with a longitudinally placed "heart" and a monocoque body, which is 44.5% made of high-strength steel grades. The hood, trunk lid and suspension elements on the crossover are made of aluminum. The suspension on the "German" is completely independent - a five-link structure in front and architecture on trapezoidal levers in the back. Electronically controlled shock absorbers are available for a fee.

The steering mechanism "flaunts" a variable gear ratio and an electric booster, and the brake complex - with discs on all wheels (on the "top" versions there is ventilation on all wheels, and on the initial cars - only at the front).
In the "base" on the five-door, the ESP system is installed, combined with ABS and EBD.

Options and prices. In Russia, you can buy an Audi Q5 in the Basic, Comfort and Sport trim levels at a price of 2,420,000 rubles. The standard crossover is equipped with eight airbags, dual-zone "climate", bi-xenon headlights, heated front seats, an electric boot lid, a premium audio system, ESP, ABS, EBD and other "chips".
The Comfort version will cost from 2,540,000 to 3,010,000 rubles, and Sport - from 2,660,000 to 3,130,000 rubles. The most advanced version of the car "flaunts" a leather interior, 19-inch "rollers", parking sensors front and rear, and some other functions.
