The second performance of the Honda Odyssey, which continued the concept of its predecessor, but became better in all respects, entered the market in 1999 and quickly gained popularity in various countries of the world. In 2001, the car underwent a slight modernization, after which it got improvements to the exterior and interior, and continued its conveyor life until 2003, when a demonstration of the next generation model took place.

The second "release" Honda Odyssey is a five-door minivan with a saloon equipped with six or seven seats.

The single volume has the following dimensions: 4845 mm in length, of which the wheelbase is 2830 mm, 1615 mm in height and 1800 mm in width.

The curb vehicle weighs from 1590 to 1740 kg, depending on the version, and its ground clearance in this form is 165 mm.

For the "Odyssey" of the second incarnation, two atmospheric gasoline engines with multipoint fuel injection were assigned.

  • The first is a 2.3-liter inline-four, developing 150 horsepower and 206 Nm of peak torque and combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
  • The second is a 3.0-liter "six" with a V-shaped distribution of "pots", which has 210 "mares" and 270 Nm of torque and works in conjunction with an automatic transmission for five gears.

Both motors were combined with both a front-wheel drive transmission and an automatic all-wheel drive system.

At the heart of the "second" Honda Odyssey is the "Accord" platform, on which the power unit is transversely perched. On both axles of the vehicle, an independent suspension of a spring-link structure with transverse stabilizers is installed.
All wheels are equipped with disc brakes, ventilated on the front axle, with ABS.
The steering gear of the "Japanese" includes a rack and pinion transmission and a hydraulic control amplifier.

"Odyssey" of the second generation has a lot of advantages - good looks, spacious interior, efficient engines, excellent reliability, comfortable suspension, predictable behavior on the road, high versatility and much more.
But not everything is so rosy - the car is expensive to maintain, has a high fuel consumption and is found mainly in right-hand drive versions.
