In October 2015, at the exhibition of the automotive industry in Frankfurt, the official premiere of the "all-road" version of the premium hatch DS 4, which received the designation "Crossback", a slightly increased clearance under the bottom and slight external differences from the standard "brother" took place. In November of the same year, sales of the French pseudo-crossover started on the European market, but Russian buyers will have to wait for the novelty until June 2016.
It is not difficult to visually identify the DS 4 Crossback against the background of the base model - it is distinguished by protective and decorative linings on the wheel arches and bumpers, roof rails, black trim for exterior mirrors and 18-inch wheels of the original design, as well as the “Crossback” lettering on the trunk lid ...
In length, the "off-road vehicle" is stretched by 4284 mm, of which 2612 mm is the gap between the axles, and its height and width are 1535 mm and 1810 mm, respectively. The clearance from the bottom to the asphalt at the five-door is quite solid 202 mm.
Inside, the DS 4 Crossback completely repeats its usual "brother": beautiful and modern design, high-quality finishing materials, a well-thought-out layout of controls and competently profiled seats of the first and second rows.
The luggage compartment of the pseudo-crossover holds from 359 to 1201 liters of luggage, depending on the state of the backs of the "gallery".
Specifications. For the "Crossback" prepared a pair of gasoline and a pair of diesel power plants, which are mated with 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions and no alternative front-wheel drive transmission (agility and efficiency indicators are identical to those of just DS 4).
- The gasoline part on the hatchback is formed by in-line three- and four-cylinder engines of 1.2 and 1.6 liters with direct injection and turbocharging: the first develops 130 "horses" and 230 Nm of peak traction, and the second - 165 "heads" and 240 Nm of possible torque.
- The diesel palette consists of turbocharged "fours" with direct fuel supply: the potential of the 1.6-liter unit is 120 "mares" and 300 Nm of available output, and the 2.0-liter unit is 180 horsepower and 400 Nm.
From a technical point of view, the Crossback version of the DS 4 does not differ from the standard "brother" and uses the PSA PF2 platform with an independent MacPherson architecture at the front and a semi-independent system with a torsion beam at the back.
As standard, the car is endowed with an electro-hydraulic power steering, implanted in the rack and pinion mechanism, and disc brakes "in a circle" with a complex of modern electronics.
Options and prices. In Russia, the DS 4 Crossback will be launched on sale in June 2016, but the car has been available for Europeans since November 2015 at a price of 27,200 euros (this is how much it costs in France) in three equipment options - Be Chic, Sport Chic and Executive. In terms of basic and optional equipment, the pseudo-crossover repeats DS 4.
