The mid-size "rogue" Chevrolet TrailBlazer of the first generation debuted in 2001, and two years later acquired an extended modification with the "EXT" prefix. In 2005, the car underwent a planned update, which made minor changes to the exterior and interior, but it affected only the maximum configuration of "LT".

On the assembly line, the "American" held out until 2008, giving way to the Chevrolet Traverse in the North American market.

The Original Generation TrailBlazer is a five-door midsize SUV with two options - Basic Wheelbase or Extended Wheelbase (EXT). Depending on the modification, the length of the car is 4893-5278 mm, width - 1897-1905 mm, height - 1826-1956 mm. The distance between the axles of the "American" is 2869 or 3274 mm, and its ground clearance is 200 mm.

Under the hood of the “first” Chevrolet TrailBlazer, you can find exclusively gasoline units with multipoint fuel injection, which work jointly with a 4-band “automatic” and rear or hard-started all-wheel drive, organized according to the “Part-Time” scheme, with a “transfer case” and a reduction transmission.
The SUV was equipped with in-line "sixes" with a volume of 4.2 liters, giving out 273-295 "mares" and 373-375 Nm of torque, and V-shaped "eights" for 5.3-6.0 liters, producing 288-400 horsepower and 440-542 Nm available traction.

The first generation of the TrailBlazer is built according to the classic recipe - based on a robust ladder frame. The front suspension on the car is represented by an independent design on double wishbones, and a continuous axle is integrated at the rear, suspended by means of a Panhard rod and four trailing arms.
The five-door has a rack-pinion steering mechanism with a hydraulic booster, and all its wheels are equipped with disc brakes with ABS.

The advantages of the original Chevrolet TrailBlazer are: reliable design, high level of comfort, roomy interior, powerful engines, good equipment, acceptable dynamic characteristics and inexpensive spare parts.
But among its shortcomings are: high fuel consumption, weak head light and low cross-country ability.
