The Lamborghini Diablo is a rear-wheel or four-wheel drive supercar with a centrally located power unit, which is provided in two body versions: a coupe and a roadster with a (manually) retractable hard top ...

This is the first car of the brand that was able to exceed the speed of 200 mph (320 km / h). It is named after a ferocious bull named Diablo (translated as "devil"), killed during a bullfight in Madrid in 1869 ...

For the first time, the two-door with a closed body appeared before the general public in January 1990 - at a special event in Monte Carlo. But the version with a removable top (in serial form) had to wait much longer - its debut took place in December 1995, at the auto show in Bologna.

Subsequently, the car was repeatedly refined, receiving both visual and technical improvements, and remained on the assembly line until 2001 (its total circulation was 2,884 copies), giving way to the Murcielago model.

"Diablo" has the following external dimensions: its length is extended by 4470 mm, its width extends to 2040 mm, and its height fits into 1120 mm. The distance between the wheelsets is 2650 mm, and its ground clearance is quite decent 140 mm.

The curb weight of the two-door varies from 1450 to 1625 kg, depending on the modification.

The layout of the cabin is two-door, two-seater with a massive central tunnel.

The luggage compartment (located in the front of the body) is 140 liters.

The Lamborghini Diablo was powered exclusively by V-shaped petrol engines with a distributed "power" system, variable valve timing and a 48-valve timing structure:

  • The first option is a 5.7-liter "atmospheric", which generates 485-595 horsepower and 580-639 Nm of torque (it all depends on the version).
  • The second is a 6.0-liter unit producing 530-575 hp. and 605-630 Nm of rotational potential.
  • The third is a 6.5-liter engine with 640 hp. and 660 Nm of available thrust.

The car was equipped with an uncontested 5-speed "manual" gearbox and driving rear wheels or an all-wheel drive transmission with a viscous clutch that transfers power to the wheels of the front axle, and an interaxle differential.

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the supercar "shoots" after 3.7-4.1 seconds, and rushes to a maximum of 320-338 km / h.

In "mixed conditions" of movement, the car consumes from 19.1 to 27.6 liters of fuel for every "hundred" of mileage (depending on the modification).

At the heart of the Lamborghini Diablo is a high-strength, rectangular tubular welded space frame with body panels made of aluminum and composite materials. The engine of the car is installed longitudinally in the central part.

Both front and rear, the supercar has independent double wishbones with coil springs, adjustable shock absorbers and anti-roll bars.

The two-door has a steering system with an integrated hydraulic booster. On all wheels of the car, ventilated disc brakes are mounted (on the front axle - with a diameter of 330-365 mm, and on the rear axle - 284-335 mm), supplemented by ABS (but not on all modifications).

In the secondary market of Russia, Lamborghini Diablo in 2018 can be purchased at a price of ~ 3.5 million rubles.

It is worth noting that the car is equipped (in the “simplest” configuration) “in a Spartan manner”: manual windows, air conditioning, a simple radio, halogen lighting and some other points.
