The second-generation Volkswagen Touran compact van was officially presented to the public on the podiums of the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015 (however, the Germans declassified the car a little earlier - on February 24 - at a preliminary presentation in Germany, organized for journalists). On the European market, sales of new items started already by the fall of the same year, but he never made it to Russia.

The "second" Volkswagen Touran looks modern and solid, and if its predecessors tried to be similar to the "people's Golf", then the second incarnation of this compact MPV looks more like the "status Passat".

The exterior of the car has a strict design with straight lines, which is supported by stylish lighting equipment and characteristic stamping on the body.

The front part of the "second Turan" is made in the same vein as the "face of the eighth Passat" - beautiful headlight units with LED sections of running lights (optionally, the head optics can be completely on diodes), a radiator grill with chrome strips and the brand emblem and inscribed with ribs bumper with large air intake.

The silhouette of the compact van flaunts the correct and harmonious proportions with developed wheel arches, a large glass area and minimal overhangs at the front and rear.

The rear of the Volkswagen Touran is designed in such a way as to ensure maximum functionality - a huge tailgate, half of which is occupied by a window section, a compact bumper and modern lights (optional - LED).

The dimensions of the body of the German monocab are as follows: length - 4527 mm, width - 1814 mm, height - 1628 mm. This means that compared to its predecessor, the "second Turan" has become longer and wider by 130 mm and 41 mm, respectively, while the height has decreased by 6 mm. It has increased by 113 mm and the wheelbase is 2791 mm. But the value of the ground clearance has decreased - the clearance here is 145 mm.

The "higher status" of the second generation Volkswagen Touran can be traced in the interior - from design to finishing materials.

The steering wheel is slightly truncated at the bottom, and the prerogative of the expensive versions is a multifunctional steering wheel, dressed in leather. The dashboard is distinguished by an interesting design, made in the “family” style of the brand - a pair of “wells” and a small display of the trip computer in the center: the main thing is information content and readability at a height.

The center console, depending on the configuration, can accommodate a color display of the infotainment complex with screens from five to eight inches. In its lower part, the position of the air conditioning control panel is set aside, which in the "top" version has a three-zone orientation.

The front panel in terms of design is fully consistent with the trends of modern fashion, and also features high ergonomics.

The interior of the "second" Volkswagen Touran is woven with high-quality finishing materials, including high-quality plastics of pleasant textures, as well as genuine leather. The interior of the compact van can be made in two-tone colors, which noticeably enlivens it.

Practicality has always been the strong point of the Turan, and as a result of the generation change, it has become more spacious and versatile. The driver and the navigator rely on comfortable seats with a verified profile, optimal padding and great customization options. At the rear, there are three separate seats that can move in the longitudinal direction at a distance of 200 mm and, if necessary, fit flush with the floor. The third row of seats, as before, is available as an option and can easily accommodate two adult passengers.

In the five-seater version, the Volkswagen Touran's ideal trunk is designed to carry 1,040 liters of luggage, but with the rear seats folded down, the useful volume increases to 1980 liters. And this is not counting the fact that there are 47 containers "scattered" around the cabin, in which you can put various small things. The fifth door is optionally complemented by an electric drive and contactless unlocking technology with a kick under the bumper.

Specifications. The second generation Volkswagen Touran engine range consists of three petrol and as many diesel engines, each equipped with turbocharging, direct injection, start / stop system and energy recovery technology.

  • The gasoline part of the single-volume compact van is formed from TSI engines: 1.2-liter (producing 110 horsepower), 1.4-liter (150 horsepower) and 1.8-liter (output of which is 180 horsepower).
  • The base turbodiesel is a 110-horsepower 1.6-liter unit. A more powerful engine with a volume of 2.0 liters produces 150 horsepower, while its twin turbocharged version generates 190 horsepower.

In tandem, the engines rely on a six-speed manual transmission, as well as 6- or 7-speed DSG robots with a pair of clutches, which unleash its full potential on the front wheels.

Gasoline versions consume about 5.5 ~ 6.5 liters of fuel (in mixed driving mode), "the first hundred on the speedometer" is reached after 8.5 ~ 11.5 seconds, and the maximum can accelerate to 189 ~ 218 km / h.

Diesel variants consume 4.4 ~ 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers, speeds of 100 km / h can be reached in 8.2 ~ 11.9 seconds, and the maximum capabilities are at the level of 187 ~ 220 km / h.

The volume of the fuel tank, regardless of the version, is 58 liters.

The "second" Volkswagen Touran is built on the modular architecture of the MQB, which, with a decent increase in size, allowed the car to "lose weight" by a substantial 62 kilograms (in the basic modification, the curb weight is 1453 kg).

The front suspension on the car is classic and is represented by MacPherson struts, and the usual multi-link design is installed at the back.

The power steering is electric, and the brakes on all wheels are disc brakes, supplemented by various electronic systems.

Options and prices. Sales of the "second Turan" on the European market started in September 2015 (however, in April, official dealers of the brand began to accept orders for it) at a price of € 23,925. This car never entered the Russian market.
Volkswagen Touran has received a rich list (as usual for VW - optional) equipment: LED headlights and lights, three-zone "climate", power luggage compartment door, adaptive cruise control with warning of frontal collisions, "plug autopilot", blind spot monitoring system, adaptive DCC chassis and more.
